Board & ManagementThe Minister for Natural Resources & Water is responsible for the appointment of board directors and their general direction, control and operations. The Government sets the policy framework, which is communicated via the Minister and State Government departments. All boards are responsible for setting a broad strategic framework, business targets and operational controls. These must comply with Government requirements and where practicable achieve best business practice. The Board must ensure that they operate within these parameters, and should seek assurance from the Board's Manager that the Board is operating in a culture of compliance, performance and making suitable progress towards achieving the Board's objectives. Board Directors The Authority is headed by a Board that comprises seven directors, four directors are elected by ratepayers, two are nominated by the sugar miller and one is nominated by the shire council. Each director is appointed for a term of 3 years starting on the day stated in the directors instrument of appointment. South Burdekin Water Board directors meet on the third Thursday of every month, ratepayers requesting representation to the Board should contact the Board Secretary to arrange an appropriate time |
